The Trainline
The trainline, provides the platform and complex technical Infrastructure for most of the UK’s most popular online train tickets websites, such as Virgin trains, Qjump and The trainline website. My role as a test analyst was to conduct functional tests, integrate oracle database for data integrity, interpret usecases into test scripts and test for accessibility and usability. The development team were offshore, Thoughtworks based in India. On a daily basis I would liaise with the QA and Dev team in India (via telephone/video conference) regarding UAT faults, prioritisation of bugs and any issues that was detrimental to the UAT environment.
uSwitch
I worked for uSwitch as a Test Analyst. I was part of the core QA team working on the site redesign. I was responsible for creating test plans and scripts, looking at Accessibility, web standards, functional and regression testing. As part of the agile team I worked on all of the major uSwitch web applications, such as Energy, Car Insurance and Financial products. I was responsible for reviewing business specification and designs to identify potential pitfall and robustness of proposed specification. I also created test scripts and executed the tests.
Stairplace Ltd.
I was contracted by Stairplace Ltd to establish a web presence for the company. Together we developed their web strategy; agreed on the web architecture and design. I developed the site accordingly and ensured it was search engine optimisied.
London Gifted & Talented
London Gifted & Talented is part of the government initiative to raise aspirations and achievement in education though creative and innovative e-learning content. My role was to research, design, document and lead the User Acceptance Testing of interactive e-Learning applications. During my employment with London Gifted & Talented, I have had various evolving roles within the organisation. Duties have included:
- designing and specifying interactive, accessible and usable web applications that realise the educational objectives
- create functional designs (prototype / wireframes)
- identifying and researching existing guidelines and standards in order to establish and develop QA standards for the organisations web strategy
- devise and manage User Acceptance Tests during the development cycle of products
- coordinate and execute QA and UAT checks (Accessibility, Usability and functional tests).
I worked on numerous flagship projects, teaming up with educators and developers to establish solutions to meet the learning objectives. I developed prototypes, wireframes, use cases and UAT that specifies the deliverable of each project. I was also responsible for conducting usability and functional tests during and post development. Here are some of the products I have worked on:
- In Between the Line (BETT Awards 2006 nominated) - a series of high challenge reading and writing activities for students achieving Level 7
- How Do You Mean? - series of interactive games that help students think about how the English language works and how words mean
- Deep Cells learning content teaching key scientific ideas of cells, contains more questions than answers!
- Aim Higher - two informative and interactive sites that provide support for College or University applicants. Support is providing for selection of possible courses, interview skills, and UCAS application process using interactive tools.
Ogivly UK
I worked for Ogilvy as a QA consultant. Advising on website Accessibility at the design stage and then conducting test to ensure web projects meet client requirements. The projects I’ve worked on were developed for various Bluechip client such as Dove, IBM, BP, AVIS, BT, AMEX and Yahoo. I also execute flash testing, email testing and banner testing.
Modem Media
I worked for Modem Media, working as an Information Architect. My role was to establish website navigation, develop wireframes and sitemap for some of their high profile clients. You can view one of the completed projects at www.totalwar.com.
eLearning for the BBC Digital Curriculum
I worked with Tavistock Alliance Ltd , one of the BBC’s Digital curriculum preferred suppliers, to help develop eLearninng content for the BBC JAM Project. My role was to assist in the design of eLearning applications. Advising on interaction and application accessibility, helping in the development of usable navigation systems and content that ensures learning objectives are met. Additionally I was responsible for writing the the User Acceptance documentation and functional tests.
Mydeo
Mydeo was one of the first UK based service to allow home moviemakers to upload their videos to a global streaming network for immediate broadcasting. I worked as a consultant, reviewing their current service; identifying current issues with the service and advising on possible use and extensions of their service to add value. I made recommendations on how their product can capitalise modern web technology and lead the way in their field.
Page Relations Ltd.
I redesigned the website of Page Relations Ltd. My job was to restructure the website to improve its usability and to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
